Watermelon

You must have heard of Watermelon in skincare. If not, where have you been?

Ever prevalent in the Korean Beauty realm, the power of watermelon has taken over the world of skincare. It’s not just from eating it that you can see the benefits, as munching on it can help to nurture the skin from the inside out, its also great applied topically through a product.

Watermelon in skincare?

Yes! Here at Dr Botanicals, we thrive on wanting to implement the newest and best ingredients into our products, that’s why we’ve incorporated this heavenly hydrating ingredient into our super-fruity Watermelon Superfood 2-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover. A refreshing facial cleanser with a powerful hydrating capacity and omega acids that remove any excess sebum on the skin and help you quench thirsty skin.

According to dermatologists, watermelon-infused skin care products offers several benefits for the skin - such as hydration, delivery of nutrients and amino acids, antioxidant protection, and mild exfoliation.

What does this mean for my skin?

Watermelon is 92% water which means it's especially good for those with dull and dehydrated skin. It’s also full of ‘good for the skin’ stuff; whilst it’s known for its hydrating properties and ability to unclog pores, it can also help reduce sun damage due to Vitamins A and E1, which are powerful antioxidants that fight off free radicals caused by UV exposure.

Vitamin A can also help with collagen stimulation and therefore help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles whilst Vitamin C is brightening and helps protect against pigment damage.

So, what else goes into the Watermelon Cleanser?

To stick to our mantra of vegan, natural skincare, we like to ensure that the ingredients we use come from natural sources:

  • Glycerin is a humectant that works to balance the moisture in your skin. If your skin is dry, it will draw in moisture and if your skin is oily, it will help decrease the oily appearance of your skin

  • Sugar Cleanser (coco-glucoside) is a mixture of the beneficial fatty acids that come from coconut and the natural sugar glucose, used here as a cleansing agent

  • Grapefruit Peel Oil contains high levels of Vitamin C which can aid in reducing the appearance of skin imperfections and the appearance of oiliness

  • Orange Peel Oil is an essential oil from sweet oranges, mainly used for its fresh and fruity fragrance.

If you want to try the hydration for yourself, why not get your hands on our popular Watermelon Superfood 2-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover?
