Moroccan Rose - Beauty's Best Kept Secret
Welcome to the first in our series of posts on the subject of the most glorious of ingredients, Moroccan Rose (Rosa centifolia).
In this post I will introduce Moroccan Rose and over why it's popular in skincare, as well as who uses it.
Our most popular range - and for good reason - Moroccan Rose has achieved cult status in the skincare community where it is cherished for its beautiful aroma and its anti-inflammatory and hydration effects.
Rosa Damascene
Moroccan Rose (Rosa Damascene) was originally cultivated in the Daddes Valley in Morocco for the purpose of creating dried flowers and rosewater. During the 1940’s the French built distilleries in the area to produce rose oil which has been widely used in perfumery and skincare ever since.
A Rose By Any Other Name
Moroccan Rose is famed for its beautiful scent and its incredible skin benefits, which we will delve into in next week’s email.
As an ingredient, rose is perfect for those with combination and oily skin due to its hydrating and astringent properties. Due to its gentleness on the skin, it is also beneficial for mature skin types. Yet, all skin types suit Moroccan Rose.
Moroccan Rose in Skincare
Moroccan Rose is often used in products that target skin redness due to its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to reduce the appearance of redness on the skin.
It is also extensively used in products for anti-ageing as the combination of antioxidants and fatty acids make it beneficial for soothing skin inflammation, including eczema.
Celebrities Who Rock The Rose!
Cara Delevingne
Cara Delevingne on her favourite rose oil, has said "I like to add few drops after cleansing in the evening and before my moisturiser come morning”
The Duchess of Cambridge
It’s not only Cara Delevingne that trusts rose oil in her routine, it is alleged that the Duchess of Cambridge also has a fondness for rose.
Victoria Beckham
Known for her on point sense of style, Victoria knows her ingredients and uses rose in her skincare routine for face and body.
Candice Swanepoel
While awaiting backstage for the Oscar De La Renta show at New York Fashion Week, Candice Swanepoel was prepped for the runway with a rose eye mask.
Natalie Portman
Natalie, it seems, is not afraid to experiment with products to achieve better skin and found significant reduction in breakouts since switching from a vegetarian to a vegan diet. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Natalie discovered, and is now a convert of, rose oil.
I hope you enjoyed this intro to Moroccan Rose. In my next post we will look in more depth at the benefits of Moroccan Rose for our skin.
Until then, I wish you a great week.
